Hi, I’m Jill!

I’m a work-from-home mom of two, and I’m stoked you’re here!

I don’t remember the first time I picked up a camera… but I do remember mad-dogging my mom when she was holding one (usually from whatever flower bed or hay bale she sat me on.) I’d be wearing a hat, I would ABSOLUTELY be matching my little brother, and she got exactly zero photos of me looking and smiling. I was such. a. punk.

Mom always had her camera out for ALL THE THINGS. Vacations, birthdays, prom… but also the days at home, when I’d dress up the dog or play in the laundry basket. At some point I had my own camera and she would often tell me to take pictures of people, not things. (This may or may not have been directly related to the cost of a roll of film in 1995.)

“We can buy a postcard of the scenery…I want to remember that we were here.”

I never thought this would be my job.

In college I spent a hot second looking into a photography minor, but it was pretty expensive (and “I’ll never make money doing it”) so I bailed.

It wasn’t until I quit my job in 2014 to stay home with my first baby that I started this adventure. And it’s been so good. And so hard. It’s been everything, really.

I shoot because I want to remember that we were here. The mood, the laughter, stolen glances, grandma’s hands resting on your own…those kissable toddler cheeks. It’s all more than just memories, these are the stories of life and love you’ll tell your grandkids about.

Other than my love for people + their stories…

My two kids are basically my favorite humans on the planet.

Raising them is the bravest thing I’ve ever done and I’m constantly caught between missing the tiny versions of them and looking forward to seeing who they become.

A McDonalds coke with extra ice

is the way to my heart.

I use parenthetical thoughts WAAAAAAY too often.

I think them in my head and write them in emails and texts… I just have a lot to say and thoughts on thoughts on thoughts. Not sorry.

I have a husband who is a PE teacher at our neighborhood elementary school

(and basically a celebrity with the local 6-12 year-old crowd.)

I love dogs.

Not in an “oh look at that cute dog over there” kind of way, but in a stop, drop, and snuggle on the sidewalk kind of way. I literally cannot walk past a dog without stopping to hug it. Not petting service dogs is an honest-to-God struggle.  Thank you for understanding.

FRIENDS is my all-time favorite comfort show.

I watch an episode before bed every night, have it on in the background while I’m editing…and quote it nonstop (whether it’s in my head or out loud.)
